Event Location Information
Nelson is a small provincial center, located at the top of the South Island of New Zealand.
For those who attended the 2008 Worlds in Napier, Nelson is a similar size and has many parallels to Napier, in both on shore activities and on the water. Nelson is surrounded by mountains on three sides with Tasman Bay on the other and the region is the gateway to Abel Tasman National Park, Kahurangi National Park, Lakes Rotoiti and Rotoroa in the Nelson Lakes National Park. It is a centre for both ecotourism and adventure tourism

The Tahuna Beach Holiday Park is one of the largest camping grounds in the southern hemisphere and only 3kms from the Nelson Yacht Club.
The trip between the camp is flat and follows the shoreline around to the club, so around a 5min drive 35min walk or 15min cycle
There are multiple different accommodation options available from Backpackers, Camping (powered and un-powered) and Motel Units

Transport and getting around
One thing to note that is not well documented is the lack of public transport available in Nelson, there is a localised bus service, but this is definitely not up to the standards of large cities in terms of route options and service regularity.
Getting around on pushbikes is a safe option, and there are options to hire bikes locally for this
There are various hire vehicles are readily available at reasonable prices locally.
